Frame off Restorations: 1973 phase one

A couple times a years we do frame off restorations for customers.
This year we have a customer who is willing to let us show his project on our web site to help you see what is involved in  restorations and custom building your rig.
We are starting with a stock 73 Bronco with very good body and near new engine. This customer picked this rig up in Texas so it has very little rust anywhere on it. Obviously that helps a lot with the amount of time and work needed to get the restore completed.

Phase one: Tear down. we completely disassemble the rig down to the finest detail

We have started to disassemble the rig. Now the body is ready to come off.

With the body mounted on the rotisserie we have a much easier time working on the body.

Body is sent to the paint shop. Some very minor rust area replacement. New paint inside and out.

Now we can concentrate on the chassis. This rig will get the frame blasted and coated, a suspension lift, body lift, rebuild the automatic transmission, rebuild the transfercase, Custom built front Dana 44 axle will have disc brakes, Trac Loc and 4.11 gears. Custom built rear axle will have disc brakes, Trac Loc and 4.11 gears. Engine is new so it will just get a little bit of dress up mods.

Stripped to the bare frame and ready for blasting

Check back from time to time.

We will post pics of the progress on this rig.

The customer wants it built right to run great and look cool also.

Now that the body is done and the chassis is done we begin the final assembly process.
